Ooh, now labeling seed beads would be something. I don't work with seed beads yet. I simply don't have the patience. *lol* I keep hoping I'd get some some day.

Warm regards,

Hi Laurie -- if you have a vial of seed beads you can put the probe up
against the top of the beads in the container and take a reading. It
usually works, however irridescent beads give variable results.
I have a color test, the old one that is ridiculously overpriced as it
claims to give more accurate results and has a handful of other features. I
tried the colorino (the $200 one) and the color test (I can't remember how
much it was but I think it was $600) side by side at a convention and the
color test was able to identify the dark colored clothes I brought more
accurately, whereas the colorino just said "black" for the dark blue ones.
Well, that's when I decided to stop going to convention without a budget. I
go crazy at the tech exhibits.

As for small beads, if you don't have enough of them to cover the opening
where the camera is, you will not get a good result. The color identifier
will average the color of the background and foreground. It is a small hole
however, so it shouldn't take too many beads.

  Happy beading.

Now as for tools and gizmos I carry around with me, when I have my big
purse, I pack everything in it, including the color test etc. But some
things I pack in my cell phone pouch (that I bought from Becky on this
list -- Hi Becky!) I pack a pair of folding scissors -- it's amazing how
often I need those, to open boxes, cut fingernails, cut yarn or thread or
  paper...
Other things besides money and id and cards include hearing aid batteries
and barettes to keep my hair out of the way.
Things I often wish I had include a stapler, crochet hook and a suitable bag
for crafts, and a bag that can be hung on my wheelchair in back to keep it
out of the way. That is a major drawback to carrying a jumbo shoulder bag,
which I am known for -- it kind of gets in the way when you want to get
close to people, such as reaching out to give a hug or play with little
children who love my wheelchair. And that leads to the last item I find
useful: trinkets such as necklaces and stuffed animals that keep children
occupied. (I don't have any children, but for some reason they gravitate
toward me, to look at the chair and also get things to play with.)

Anyway, I would probably carry plastic canvass and yarn as Terry has gotten
me hooked on that -- I haven't finished the tissue box I was working on as I
am modifying the design of one side to incorporate a message. Lots of
stitch counting before I start to be sure the words fit.

  Anyway, happy krafting all.

  Hey Joyce:

if you can try using that color identifier on beads and tell me if it works.
I have 1 heck of a time withkeeping bead colors straight and I have resisted
bying one because I don't know how well it can identify glass or small
  objects.
