Well, I am going to chime in now. I believe whole heartedly that learning
to swim is one of those life skills all should learn. Swimming is also a
very blind friendly sport... so, my advice? Get him in the pool!

Who is working back up to a mile a day, currently at 54 laps a day!
And, to tie this into crafts? I am trying to design a lap counter with
beads. Something like the wrist abacus one would use for knitting. Any
ideas?

Dick;
How about getting a set of plastic bowling pins and teach him how to bowl.
After he gets the hang of it, introduce him to the real bowling lanes. I am
not into sports, much, but I love bowling. They have guard rales for blind
people, if he ever joines a blind leage. He can use the rack where the
balls come back for a guide, instead of a guard rale. My friends just tell
me what pins I still have standing and I ame and role. I am not a great
bowler by any means, but I still bowl with my staff members, at our
Christmas party!
