Thanks for the idea. I stopped knitting for a few days and it seams better. I wonder if it has something to do with the type of needle. I was using wood or bamboo for the slipper and before, plastic and metal. We will have to see what happens when I take it up again. Like you said, I do deal with a lot of paper and removal of staples for shredding and resycling.

I don't have calluses so I can't verify this, however, I have done a lot of work around paper/cardboard and it dries out the hands to the point that they crack and bleed. Because of this, I am in the habit of using handcreme all the time. I have noticed that if I am reading braille right after applying the cream (make sure your hands are thoroughly dry of course) that I have better sensitivity. Also, if I am drinking a cup of coffee and warming my fingers on the mug, the braille seems more distinctive.
Let us know if either of these work with your situation.
