[Nfb-krafters-korner] Stitch Counters

I changed the subject line to reflect the subject.

I find that placing the stitch markers on my needles just before the 2 purl
stitches on the Cozy Slippers is very helpful. For one it warns me where
to put the purl stitch. But, also I find that it is helpful when I am on
the plain knit side. I can tell that it is the knit only side, as there
are 9 stitches before the stitch marker instead of the 8 for the side that
has the k8, p1, k8, p1, k8.

I read it again and I guess you mean to put the pin at the edge, right?
Also use markers to tell where the p stitch would be with out counting.

Hi Cindy:

If you want to place stitch markers on to indicate when you get to those
stitches that get purled, they go directly onto the shaft of the needle.
The only problem with this mostly garter stitch pattern is that on alternate
rows, those purl stitches get knitted. An alternate suggestion for you is
to place either a locking stitch marker or coiless safety pin directly onto
the fabric when you are on the purl side. Every time the face of the fabric
that has the marker or pin on it faces you, then you will purl, when that
side faces away from you just knit across the row.

Don't use just any old safety pin as they have a good chance of catching on
your knitted fabric.

HTH.

Eileen
