[Nfb-krafters-korner] How to Make SSK Knitting Stitches

I think it does make a difference in the appearance. I had also found one
more version where the knitter said that he/she preferred to slip the first
stitch knit wise and the second purl wise. He/she thought it left a nicer
looking stitch.

I believe that was called SSK Improved.
For more clarification:
I found the following at Lion brand:
http://cache.lionbrand.com/faq/80.html?language=
  ssk = slip, slip, knit

Work to the place where the decrease is to be made. Slip the next 2
stitches, one at a time as if to knit, to the right needle.

Insert the left needle into the fronts of these two stitches and knit them
together. One stitch is decreased. This decrease slants to the left.

On the purl side of the work, the decrease is called slip, slip, purl (ssp).
In the same way as ssk, slip the 2 stitches on at a time as if to knit to
the right needle. Purl them together through the back loops (see the FAQ on
purling through the back loops for detail). This decrease slants to the
left.

Finally, from "Knitting Help" which includes both the SSK and also the
Improved SSK:

SSK (Slip Slip Knit)
The most common left-slanting decrease

A very commonly used left slanting decrease .
...Slip one stitch, then slip the next. Insert left needle into the front
loops of the slipped stitches and knit them together from this position
(through the back loops).

SSK "Improved"

Lays slightly flatter than SSK. Some prefer it as an even closer match to
k2tog. ...I can't make up my mind, I like them both!

...Slip one stitch as if to knit, slip the next stitch as if to purl, knit
the two together through the back loops.

Okay, both of these explinations are clear, but they are not describing the
same actions. The first is slipping the stitches from left to right and not

twisting those stitches, where the second explination is slipping the
stitches from left to right as to knit which will put a twist to the stitch
once it is on the right needle. Will that make a difference in the
stitches?
