Dixie:

Essentially once the 2 sts get slipped back onto your left needle you are 
going to work a single decrease by knitting 2 sts together, but in an SSK 
you knit 2 together through the back loop.  To me, this is just like 
inserting my right needle as if to purl, but you insert on the back/far side 
of the work and then work the k2-tog-tbl
