[Nfb-krafters-korner] Various types of crochet hooks

I just bought Boye hooks from Wal Mart. For me slower move to the yarn
which feels good to me. Generally though I use the shiny hooks. The paint
on the Boye hooks makes a difference for sure in speed of the yarn coming
off the hook. I bought a set of bamboo hooks, yuk. I don't like how the
hook is formed. I like a real defined hook. Plastic hooks were the first I
learned on. When I moved to metal, I never looked back as I love the smooth
feel. I also like the finger indentation on the metal hooks painted Boye
hooks or smooth shiny hooks. Neat suggestion about washing the hooks. I
have never done that before.

I am a hundred messages behind as I have a grandson stil in his mother's
womb that is very il. So I am trying to catch up. I am out of town again
next week.

Becky and Jake who loves to carry around my projects.

Angelina,

I never use anything but aluminum crochet hooks. This will sound odd but I
know it works for me. Take your hook and wash it with warm soapy water. The
oils from your hands and even probably the yarn can make it harder to hold.
If I crochet a lot, washing the hook makes for a more comfortable hold.
Also, see what brand of hook you are using. For me, Susan Bates hooks are
slick and hard to hold and use. I prefer Boye hooks and there is the tiniest

bit of texture in the paint on them. Bates hooks are typically silver that
I've used. I've never used or seen a bamboo but the plastic hooks I have
have such a tiny hook part and are blunt on the end. I find them harder to
use.

Greg
