Linda,
First the easy way. at selvage take scissors and cut on 1 layer every 2
1/2 inches and then tare it. It will tare straight after the first one.
Then you will have 2 1/2 inch by 45 inch.Trim selvages off and It is easy
now. You by folding in half and then folding in half over can cut this into
8 equal pieces which will work out to be 5 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches.
Or
Use freezer paper and have your hubby cut you a measure of paper 2 1/2 by
22 or any size up to that and pin and cut 2 1/2 inch strips.
or if you have the equipment... [I do as I have been quilting]
You need a cutting board, rotary cutter, a measuring grid[it is approx. 18
by 20 or larger, that has slits in it every 1/2 inch. It has the first one
beginning 2 inches from the edge.] and I have a 12 or 16 inche square
template. I fold the fabric in 4's even all edges by pressing up at selvages
and then line up the square template to bottom and make first cut to
square things up. Then line edges of fabric to right or left side of cutting
board and bottom of cutting board and using the guide cut strips every 2 1/2
inches with rotary cutter. Then follow the above to cut into the 5 1/2
strips.
The above cutting supplies will probably cost around $100.
or go out and get an Accuquilt to go plus the die cutter and mat board for
the 2 1/2 inch strip cutter., But that will cost you hmmm $260 plus
shipping for that baby. This is the perfect way of doing it, but depends on how
many you want to do. This is what I am going to get myself for Christmas.

Well, I bought all this fabric to make the wreaths. Now, I am wondering
HOW to do it? They need to be cut into 2 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch strips - can you
give me a technique for cutting them? I have never done this sight loss 4
years ago.
I am thinking - Make a cardboard template and then cut around it? Is there
a better way?
