[Nfb-krafters-korner] Story Readings

Eleni,
Gee, I'm very surprised to see this coming from you. Someone who hasn't had much to say concerning the emails on this site and just recently asked if people could up date you on things that happened in the past couple of months because you haven't been following the site till recently, but you're certainly entitled to your opinion.
Well I think, as you put it, it is just as ridiculous that people after I read the stories weren't satisfied with someone giving of their free time to share these stories but wanted to know who the author was or if they could have the tape or tried to figure out how they were going to take it for their own instead of being a part of this group and being thankful for the sharing of our time together here on Krafters Korner.
If you read into my email, this is not the editor's decision, it is mine, simply because I feel if everyone is more interested in obtaining the tapes and the author's name than listening to me reading the stories and sharing my collection with you, than my presence is totally unnecessary. So you all can find the information you need to know on the website in my previous email and you will be able to obtain everything for yourself.  If it now costs you and you don't have the money I'm really very sorry. I thought that's why I was trying to do everyone a favor by reading them for free for one hour out of my busy schedule.
There isn't an author because they are edited versions of myths and legends and some very famous stories, like the Hans Christian Anderson one that I had forgotten and was pointed out to me. The editor is the one you should appreciate, who spent a great deal of her time cutting and editing these stories so they would be short and hold the attention of children. So it is up to you now to do whatever you want to the editor who also needs the income for a living and doesn't live off the free air. She has a family she helps support and I personally don't feel I want to rip her off by taking the income off her table and reading her stories when I now know these tapes exist. Do you like to get paid for the crafts you create?
If this all sounds too politically correct for people, I'm sorry. I've had to work very hard all my life for what I have and I never got or took something for nothing, nor was anything handed to me for free.
So if you don't like what took place, maybe next time people will show some gratitude for what people are sharing here and just be thankful. You'll find all the necessary information for the editor/author on the website and you can let your conscious be your guide. It's out of my hands now. Sorry you feel the way you do, but I have feelings too and I'm sure the editor doesn't like getting ripped off either.

   Krafters Korner division

PS. I also don't need my readings to be accounted for in the division records. They were shared as a kind gesture that don't need to be recongnized. Afterall, nothing ever has been nor will it ever be. Just forget they existed. No one needs to take credit for the sharing of something given freely. My goodness.....some more me, me, me......

This is a perfect example of people being ridiculous and overly
politically correct.  You weren't charging for your readings or
selling the recordings.  You are not a professional reader and are
reading to the blind, some of whom may not have, may not be able to
afford or may not know how to use accessible means of getting books.
Furthermore, there could have been children there who may have learned
an appreciation of reading and then who may have wanted to have their
parents or grandparents buy the books for them.  And of course,
there's nothing to stop adults from doing the same for themselves if
they have the means.  Parents read to groups of children at parties,
teachers read to students, camp leaders read to campers, volunteers
read to the elderly in nursing homes and so on.  Certainly, not all of
the books that they read are in the public domain and most don't go
out and look for the authors to ask permission in such cases.  There's
no difference here and we all enjoyed ourselves.  So while it makes
sense for you to promote the professional readings, I must say you're
going a bit overboard here.

Realistically,
Eleni
