Joyce,

I attended the Convention in Orlando and I guess my favorite part of it was
that I did some things for myself for fun like attending the Tactile Art
Show and the Krafters Craft Show. I also sang during the Karaoke night.
It's fun to be a part of the business of the NFB and the Convention but it's
fun to do some things just for yourself, too. My second favorite thing was
the Louisiana Center for the Blind luncheon and play. I loved seeing my old
instructors and friends and meeting new people. I got to give some advice
to a woman who is starting very soon. I told her not to be afraid of the
railroad tracks.

I'm so glad I decided to get involved with the Krafters Division this time.
I hope we get some new members and new ideas for craft classes. I think by
now most people know that I love knitting. the more I can learn about
knitting and how to make my projects look good, the better. I still don't
know how to sew things together and I'd love a refresher on cable stitches
so if you can schedule the cable hat, that would be great. I think there
was a scarf, too. I don't know if that's in the same class or not but it
would be nice to have both. I also love flower arranging. I also love
jewelry making. I guess the main thing that I need to learn is how to put
clasps on or how to tie the elastic cords so that they don't come apart. I
would love it if you would offer another safety pin beading class. I've
been reading the posts about making some clay projects and I tried my hand
at some clay at Convention. I'd love to see a class on how to make a bowl
or candle holder or something like that with the coil method. I've never
used the self-hardening clay but I'd like to do it. I'm not for just going
to a store and getting things. I'd like to start with a class and then I
feel like I'd know what to ask for at a store.

I guess that says it all. Do you know anything about tie dye? Does anyone
do it anymore or did it go out with the 1970s? I had an instructor at a
training cener who loved to do it but I was doing so many other projects
that I never got to it. She also did macrame but I never got to it, either.
I guess if it's a choice between these two crafts, macrame would be better.

Oh, one more thing. I'm wondering if there could be a chat or question
about selling crafts. I'd like to know the rules for selling things. I
mean, if you do a pattern that's not your own but add something or put two
patterns together to make a new one, can you sell that? I'd also like to
know more about EBay. I didn't get to attend the class at Convention so any
information I can get on what to sell and how to sell it would be helpful.
I'd really like to start making some things and selling them either at
Convention, Farmer's Markets, or on EBay. I'd even like to use my crafts
for fund raising for my NFB Chapter.

Regards,

Denise

I would like to welcome all our members new and long time members of the
list and of NFB Krafters Division. We like to call this place Krafters
Korner.

Things have been quiet and now that folks have returned back from
Convention in Florida I hope things will get more active.

Please do let us know if you went to Florida for Convention or if you went
to any Conventions and tell us what your favorite part was.

I want to thank Terry for sharing the information about the NFB Krafters
Division Membership Meeting and I had just learned about the results of the
elections yesterday.

I want to welcome our new board member Cindy Zimmer, our returning board
Member Linda Anderson and thank Ramona Walhof for taking over the secretary
position for the remaining of the term.

July is almost half over already and summer is moving along. I would like
to remind everyone that you can renew or pay your membership for July
2011 to July 2012 by PayPal at our website KraftersKorner.org and it is $10
for
the year or any part of the year.

We were hoping to have Christmas in August classes, but due to folks
having changes in their schedules many of the classes will be rescheduled in
the
later months.

We are always looking for people to teach new classes or even repeats of
old classes via telephone conference calling. So please do contact me if
you have an idea for a class or if you would like to teach a class that you
have done in the past.

We will be rescheduling the Origami class and I am waiting to hear back on
a cable knit class. Hopefully we will get them booked in for August.

I want to extend a warm welcome to our new list members and ask you to
please introduce yourself. Let us know what state you call home and what
crafts you like to do or would like to learn how to do.
