You mean like a scrunchy?  I made 2 from plastic canvis, a heart and a diamond.  I stitched an alastic loop into my plastic canvis stiching, on the back.  Both are red, edged in white.  
How do you get yours to expand?

Do you do bun covers in crochet or knit?  
 
I have been known to take my socks that I had mistakes in that I made from my circular sock machine or just did up a couple of inches on the sock machine and used them to go around my bun of hair.
