[Nfb-krafters-korner] FW: membership

As a former owner of my own bookkeeping business, a member of the finance
committee of GDUI,  and the Treasurer of my local Council of the Blind, the
Treasury of any group I donate monies to is very much a concern of mine.  

Thank you Cindy for offering to give us a copy of the annual report.  That
is all I am asking for.
A simple accounting of the funds.
As a treasurer I am expected to give a monthly report of our funds and how
they are used, and rightly so.  Some people are able and willing to donate
much more than $10 a year for a worthy cause.  This of course though would
only happen if they know where the money is going and what it is needed for.

Also all the calls and advertising Joyce has done in our behalf.  For all
the classes we get, a nice web site and a nice e-mail list, Dues is the last
worry on my mind.  When we get bigger, more can be done with our funding.
We are a small group, just getting off the ground.  I was at the meeting,
but did not consentrate on the treasury report, because it was not a big
concern on my mind.

We have to maintain our web site and that is not free and as we get larger,
we most likely will have to contribute to the National treasury.  Just
because the chat line is free, does not mean there are not any hidden
charges we do not know about.  Just the cost of buying paper, writing
checks... Can add up.

I have not gotten a report  from our Membership Meeting held at the  NFB
Convention in Orlando Florida on July 6th, 2011.  So until I receive  the
report I can not make comment to you or the list.  The report was given  at
the meeting and I am waiting for these reports to come to me.
 
Our division is only 3 years old so there has not been much time for our
treasurery to grow or for us to have membership grow.  As was stated a
short while ago in 2011 we had just over 50 paid members.
  I hope you don't mind that I use you for an example, but just since
January 2011 to date you have participated in 23 class sessions here on
Krafters 
 Korner   That does not count classes taken in July 2010 to December  2010. 
 So I believe you received your $10 worth.
 
I am always working hard for the NFB Krafters Division to make our
membership grow and spread the word of what Krafters Korner has to offer
blind  
crafters.    
 
I would like to see our treasurery grow in order to meet expensives and
create some opportunities for our members.  I will be planning a meeting
with  our new board to welcome them and get feedback from the  Convention.
 
Krafters Korner is for everyone and everyone makes Krafters Korner what it
is.

Membership  goes from July to July.   We did have a special for folks in  
April or May I believe  that if you paid back at that time your membership
counted  from that time to July 2012.

Technically, unless you  paid at  Convention in Florida or sent your
membership via PayPal or mail  mostly  everyone's membership dues of $10 are
due now.

The only  way you can  check  if you think you have paid for 2012 is to

I  have not yet received the  membership list that was collected at
Convention  yet.

Please  contact Diane and ask her for her mailing address or  you can go to

you to PayPal.  Do not send payment via PayPal to  us  [as mine or Diane's
email address] you have to go to our website  and go to  PayPal.

We have new classes coming up in August  remember you get  one free Try It
Class and then membership needs to  be paid for you to attend any  other
classes.

Once you sign up  for a class you will receive a  confirmation of that class
with a  phone number to get into the  class.

August 8 is a Monday Night  Chat mini class and Monday Night  Chats don't
count as a  class.
