Welcome Karen. We have recently had classes teaching the Nifty Knitter.
We had a class working with the round Nifty Knitter loom and a class
learning how to use the rectangle Nifty knitter loom. The classes do get
repeated as long as there is interest for them.

We have beaded jewelry classes frequently. Are you a beginner in beaded
jewelry making?

We are planning on having a beginner's safety pin beading class to
introduce some of the new folks here on the basics for that. We have an Easter
basket safety pin beading class starting up in less then 2 weeks. The date
on the website is not correct. As it got postponed by 2 weeks.

You asked about needle point, well we have a plastic canvas class starting
next Wednesday. It is similar to needle point.

Be sure to take a chance to go to our website and check out what classes we
 will be having.

All classes are done by telephone conference calls and our teachers are
excellent with putting into words what your hands are doing. Check out

Hi,

I'm new to the list and am excited about the opportunity to learn and
share about crafting with others who have vision impairments. I haven't found a
real focus yet and I wonder if there are clay workers, beaders and
knitters on the list.

I have always wanted to learn to knit. I have seen a product called the
nifty knitter and would be interested in knowing if others use it. Would it
be good for a beginner? I'm considering purchasing the new book for blind
knitters but I don't think it discusses the loom. I'm in Texas and it's
already warming up, but I figure if I start now, I might be able to finish a
scarf by December.

This winter I started playing with clay and it is fun to see what can be
made. I borrowed a book and downloaded a few projects from a clay site and
have been thinking about taking a class from a local artist.

My last trip to the library I picked up a book on beading and the
librarian says, "I thought we were doing clay." I said, "We are but I guess we're
multimedia."

My first love is anything to do with paper, printing and books so I'm also
very interested in paper crafts. At Christmas time I went to a crafts
gallery featuring handmade items designed by people with disabilities. There
was a display of items done by a visually impaired woman who does quilling. I
bought one of her beautiful magnets to serve as inspiration.

I look forward to any thoughts and suggestions from others with similar
interests.

>From a crafts newbie,

Karen
