[Nfb-krafters-korner] Silky Twist yarn compared to homespun

Dear Cathy,

I believe that homespun is more tightly woven together than is silky twist.
Also, I believe homespun is rated 5 in terms of bulkiness, whereas silky
twist is 6. On the label it says to use a P15 hook to obtain gauge with
silky twist, I've made the Quick Gift cowl Lion pattern which calls for an
N. hook, I think any smaller hook would be very tricky with this yarn. It
has very distinct separate fibers, and there are some little tiny pieces
that hang off the yarn. The tricky bit is that the fibers tend to separate,
so it's hard to tell whether I'm sticking my hook through the middle of the
yarn. Particularly tricky when changing skeins or colors. On the other hand,
the cowl I finished is really soft and nice, and I don't think it will fall
apart.
I hope this helps.

Best,
Candy
