Welcome Candy!

I am very behind on e-mails, but who makes this silky twist?
Also where are you from. I do not think you ever introduced yourself.
My name is Terry Powers, from MD. I do phone and other support work for the National Cancer Institute of the National Institute of Health.
I loom knit, hand knit, some, do plastic canvas and safty pin beading and some beading.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Silky Twist yarn compared to homespun

Dear Cathy,

I believe that homespun is more tightly woven together than is silky twist.
Also, I believe homespun is rated 5 in terms of bulkiness, whereas silky twist is 6. On the label it says to use a P15 hook to obtain gauge with silky twist, I've made the Quick Gift cowl Lion pattern which calls for an N. hook, I think any smaller hook would be very tricky with this yarn. It has very distinct separate fibers, and there are some little tiny pieces that hang off the yarn. The tricky bit is that the fibers tend to separate, so it's hard to tell whether I'm sticking my hook through the middle of the yarn. Particularly tricky when changing skeins or colors. On the other hand, the cowl I finished is really soft and nice, and I don't think it will fall apart.
I hope this helps.

Best,
Candy
