Hi Neva and all,

I have never heard of bead weaving, but it does sound interesting. I enjoy
the safety pin beading, and would like to try bead weaving whenever a class
might be available.

Cathy

I have recently begun learning bead weaving. I didn't know there was
anything more than stringing beads before a friend sat me down and got me
started. There have been a couple of classes in the past on this group that
hopefully will be repeated. I have learned the Peyote stitch and the Russian
Spiral, thus far. I began learning Right Angle Weave, but didn't get far in
my first lesson. The only one of these stitches I can do independently thus
far, from start to finish, is Peyote and I learned the one drop stitch
first. You can do multiple bead drops in Peyote. I know this sounds like
Greek to you, but it has to do with how many beads you put on at a time. In
one drop, I have made two bracelets. It is a flat bracelet, much like a wide
watch band only made of beads that snug up to one another very close and in
a pattern. It is pretty easy for me to feel with size 8 seed beads. I know
some people work with size 15 beads which are roughly half the size of a
size 8 bead. They are tiny and I have seen a cuff style bracelet made with
size 15 beads and it is so fine that it feels like silk. It's amazing. I'm
not proficient enough to teach a class, but hopefully Joyce will be able to
find someone on the list who will. I would love to take bead weaving classes
through this group as well as working with my friend. She is a great
teacher, but we both struggle with starting and finishing projects. Good
luck to you.

do you know of a good source for information about beading and beaded
jewelry making? I'm newly retired, but craft impaired. I'd really like to
learn this as I have friends who do it but don'thave the time to teach me. I
want to make nice stuff not the kind of beading my three year old grand
daugter gives me. Of course i treasure that but I'm quite a bit older.
Anxiously awaint ann answer and have a blessed day.
