[Nfb-krafters-korner] a request for information

Hi Denise,

I remember you from last summer at Convention. Getting the clasps and earring closures on is really easy once you get the hang of it; it just takes practice. Do you have any bead shops near you? They might be able to help. A lot of times, people use a drop of glue to secure clasps and cones, but I'm not a fan of glue. I don't use it in any of my work. It is very handy for crafters, but I think it's evil. *grin* I'm really good at gluing my fingers together and to the table. No, it has nothing to do with blindness; it has to do with me and glue. We've been blood enemies since childhood. *smile* Bead-weaving would be a cool thing to learn. I would also like to learn to attach cabochons using seed beads. That looks fabulous.

Warm regards,
Sahar Husseini

  Sahar,

My name is Denise Shaible and I live in California. I love gems. I don't
go in for the meaning behind them but I love them. I know what you mean
about having to clear the table. My husband
Adam keeps asking me to put my safety pin beading projects somewhere else
so the beads don't go off on to the floor and there's a place to sit and
eat. It's funny. I'd love to get into jewelry making. I traveled to a
health center in West Palm Beach, Florida and we did jewelry every Saturday
morning. I made several sets and my favorites were a hematite and fresh
water pearl combo and a rose quartz crystal, fresh water pearl, and crystals
combo. I just love the colors and the different shapes. I only have light
perception so my teacher had to tell me the colors but, I have good color
memory so I knew what she was talking about. All I really need to learn to
do to make jewelry is how to attach clasps and other closures and how to
attach earring pieces. I like the sound of bead weaving, too. I don't know
if you've done any of this. Okay, just wanted to write.

  Welcome.

  Regards,

  Denise

Lol, this sounds familiar. I, too, have to clear my dining room table so
that guests could eat. The beads rule most of the time. I would love to
find some of the books that talk about crystal healing in an accessible
format. I find that different stones speak to me at different times in my
life, and each stone has its own energy. I worked a lot with hematite when
I lived in Alaska. Incidentally, Alaska has hematite, and they call it
black diamond, but that's not why I worked with it then. They say it helps
with depression, and I was in quite the funk when I lived there. I would
not want to see that state of mind that I lived in ever again. *smile*

    Hi Sahar and Holly
Nice to see you HERE on the KK list today!
I put my beads away before Christmas so I could have a ton of company over
the holidays without all the stuff all over my dining room table. I have
  to
get it all out again. I decided to move my beadworking table upstairs to a
spare bedroom so I am not all over the dining room again. It is nice to
  have
a clear table and be able to actually EAT there again. Smile!

My focus these days is on making encrusted bead worked TALISMANS. That is
  my
    personal passion.
I also foxus on the spiritual and metaphysical associations of the stones
  I
work with. I use the "Crystal Bible" as a guide, and I have a number of
other books like this, too. One good one I use is the "Crystal Code."
They are not beading books, but books that are metaphysical in nature,
crystal healing books. I am really interested in this.

Good luck to you Holly. There are several wonderful bead workers here, and
each is very different from the other. Between us all, we can give you
  help
and are glad to do it. Most of all, I think, what you will need is knowing
that you CAN do beading, and you WILL find your own path with the BEADS.
Like Sahar said, she just let the beads speak to her, and off she went in
that direction. That is what I do. In my case, it is the stones that speak
to me, and I try to listen and follow.
