It sounds like you created a picture frame around the original fabric, but what happened to the back of the pillow case?

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] pillow case

Hi to all,
I have to write and tell you about the pillow case I made today. The material came as a gift from my neighbor. She was in Hawaii, just a little jaunt to see her Grand kids, and she brought back this wonderful material.

It is a scene with several kinds of fish, an island, a water fall and of course the ocean. She said we would make a pillow case. i kept thinking the material was way to nice for a pillow case. But when she came to make it today I got quite a surprise.

This is a special pattern. I can give you an overview now but can give more in detail, yes, Joyce, at a chat.

First you have a twenty seven inch length of material, you will also need a nine inch piece of contrasting material that is the width of your first piece. Then a four inch piece of another color.

You iron the nine inch and four inch pieces in half. Lay the nine inch piece down fold or front side down. Place the four inch piece fold down and then your large piece. Pin them together. Roll your large piece up without including the nine inch piece. then fold the nine inch piece to meet the top where you have pinned. Oh, don't worry, I was here and also confused.

You now have your nine inch piece folded over the rest of the material. You sew all the four edges of the top together. Now pulle the large piece out from the bundle until you have your case. You will just sew up the two sides. Sounds crazy. I will write out the directions and then we'll see what happens.

What I have is a pillow case that has a yellow top folded piece with a tiny red binding like piece between the yellow and the printed piece. There is a video on U tube about this.

I will get the name. Anyhow we had fun. Then we went to a quilt shop in a nearby town and at the end of my day my other sewing friend showed up with a needle threader that might be the end of me. A full girls day for me.
