[Nfb-krafters-korner] Using large crochet hook?

Has anyone made something using a size N crochet hook?
 
I found this pattern and it does not say anything about using more then 1  
strand of yarn to make this ripple sweater.  
 
I never worked with these large crochet hooks and wondering  if it is  
difficult or how loose the stitches come out.
