[Nfb-krafters-korner] Question about loom knit

Barb,

I do not have a loom in front of me, but here is what I am thinking is
happening.

You bring stitch 1 over to peg 2. So this means that on peg 2, stitch 1 is
at the top of the peg and stitch 2 is at the bottom of the peg.
Lift stitch 2 off the peg and stitch 1 remains on the peg.
Now move that remaining stitch 1 from peg 2 over to peg 3. Now on peg 3 you
have the original stitch 1 at the top of the peg and stitch 3 is at the
bottom of the peg.
Lift stitch 3 off of peg 3 so that the original stitch 1 is again remaining
on the peg.
Keep moving the original stitch 1 to a new peg and lift the bottom stitch up
and over it.
When you get to the end, all 9 stitches will be on stitch 1.
The problem with my interpretation is that you end up with your final stitch
being stitch 1, and not stitch 10 as noted in the instructions.

HTH,
Annette

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Question about loom knit

I'm following instructions to make mouse ears, but the bind off instructions
are not making sense to me, did they leave parts out? Below are the
instructions

1.. Gather Bind Off. To do this, you'll need to bring the first loop over
to the second peg and knit over. Continue doing this with the remaining
loops.3 over 4, 5 over 6, 7 over 8, 9 over 10.
2.. Cut working yarn and leave a long enough tail to for sewing and pull
that piece through the last remaining loop on the peg. This would be the
10th loop.
3.. Make another ear and sew the two wrong sides together! Or you can sew
it differently together to get a different look.
Am I to also take the loop from peg 2 and place on peg 3 and so forth? but I
still don't see how this is a "gather" bind off.
Have someone else who is doing a different pattern and running into the same
problem.

Barb
