[Nfb-krafters-korner] comments on I phones and note takers

All:
I am in the same dilemma as many on this list. The Microsoft/Jaws thing is
to expensive, and every time something has to be "up-graded" something else
becomes incompatible. I am tired of being nicholed and dimed to death to
achieve only partial functionality. I am hoping to get an I phone and mac in
the near future. They are not perfect, but they have to be better than
this.
The problem of the note taker though still exists. I have been using a
Braille Lite and the main problem is the inability to back it up. This is a
major vulnerability and has to be fixed. However, finding a note taker for
less than $3,500 that will work with the I phone is proving to be a problem.
You might ask, why not just use a Braille display with an I phone? It would
work except for the instant on and off you get with a note taker. When I
want to write something down I can pick it up, turn it on and write. To do
the same thing with a Braille display is not possible as far as I have seen.
Any comments to the contrary would be most welcome since I am still learning
all about this and would be glad to hear of people's experiences.
Jean
