Fantastic idea! I am all there....On the round loom there is a draw string cast on that sounds like it would be perfect for making it flatter.
I am off to plarn some more...oh and since it is Sunday I am reminded that for those of us living in areas where they still bag newspapers.....they are so smooth and colorful.....I agree smooth is nice, but the shoppping bags work up to nice mats or totes.

I have a bit less then two inches of project with those three bags. So not as many as we might think. I almost cheated. I had three plastic bags that were new leftover from our cafe. OH, we retired six years ago so those bags that were nice and flat and new were a bit old and dusty. lol I can see that nice new smooth bags will be easier to cut. Of course, recycling doesn't mean new bags. lol

I can't crochet, so I put the loops on a knitting needle and did a loose pattern. I wrapped twice for each stich and then again for the next row letting the second stich fall off the needle. Then I knitted a couple of rows in garter. The cloth still didn't lay the way I wanted. When I looked at the looming part I realized that if I just drew those last stitches closed like in a toe of a slipper I could have a round cloth with cotton on one side and plarn for scrubbing on the other. I tried it and it isn't as flat as I would like but it is very useful for scrubbing.
