Looking forward to learning more about the size of Hemp.

The deal with hemp and friendship bracelets are the idea is to put your
friend's bracelet on and wear it always. So you can get it wet [shower,
swimming] and it may stretch out a bit with the wearing of it, but when you get
it wet it snugs back up.

The pearl cotton I don't know if it will shrink and stay shrunk.

Hi Cathy,
I would be interested in doing this class. I ordered hemp in both 10 & 20
from consumer crafts. I can compare it to 4 ply yarn when I get it this
weekend when I pick up my mail. They carry multi colors in the hemp. I
also
bought a hemp & shell beads.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] knotting cord help

Hi all,
Well, I am now intrigued to learn more about knotting bracelets and
other jewelry. I have made a six strand bracelet with yarn that I’d be
willing to teach as a class if there is interest. This particular
bracelet reminds me of the macramé I did years ago, and is not at all
like the two bracelets Joyce and Jill taught.

anyhow, when I went to search for some knotting cord to purchase I
realized just how little I know. I am shopping online so unfortunately
cannot touch the strands to see their thickness or texture. So I am
asking for help with this.

I have found cord that is 4-ply jute, how thick would this be compared
to 4-ply yarn and what is the texture of jute like?
I have also found something called rattail satin cord in a 1.5mm
thickness, how does this compare to 4-ply yarn? I know what the
texture of satin is but do wonder if something so slippery would knot
well?
Then I also found hemp cord in different weights such as 10lb 20lb and
40lb cord, so how thick would this be in relation to yarn ply?

Finally there are two other cords I am wondering about: 1mm
leather-like cord or cotton twist cord, I’ve got no more information
about these two.

I’d also like to understand which are best for knotting specifically
and which would make the dressiest jewelry vs. rustic.

I am leaning towards the rattail because it comes in many colors which
is what I need for these different knotted bracelets I plan to teach
myself to make.

Thanks for any help.

Cathy
