I don't know if painting or adding any type of things would be good, if you 
 want to be able to wash it.  Now is this glass that you are going to  use?

I'm planning to transform a  large pickle jar into a functional place to 
put 
stirring spoons, spatulas  etc while cooking.  I'm looking for a waterproof 
sealer that I can  cover the outside of the jar with so it's washable and

withstand  drips.  Any suggestions?  I haven't decided whether it will be  
paper or cloth I'll be applying to the  jar's outside.
