That is what I was trying to say, so I do not understand how you could change colors.  You can change, do x rows in one and x rows in y. How can you change across the loom?  There would be gaps between your colors and loose  strands behind your work.  Mistory to me!

I'm not Debbie, but I'm pretty sure I have an idea of how we will be doing it, if I'm correct, it will all be done as one piece, each row will create the borders and heart shape as we work across them, working in knits and purls, the heart shape will be formed by the placement of the purl stitches. Since the purl stitches will produce a raised bump, we should be able to feel it when sliding our hands across the afghan.
