[Nfb-krafters-korner] SSK Knit Stitch

Annette,

You are doing SSK correctly, as far as I have learned it. One thing that I
do is before I begin, place the index finger of my right hand over the
stitches on the right needle. Then, as I slip the stitches from the left
needle knit-wise, I use the right index finger to keep the slipped stitches
from sliding up next to the other stitches on the right needle. Once the
stitches are both slipped, I add my middle right finger so that it takes the
place of the right index finger. Then I use the right index finger to
manipulate the stitches.

When I insert the left needle, I actually insert it towards the bottom and
use the right index finger and right thumb to slightly separate the stitches
to make sure I insert the left needle into each stitch. Once the left needle
is inserted, since it is toward the bottom, I pull it toward me and thus
bring it into the front. My right needle is already through the stitches so
I just pick up the yarn like usual and pull it through.

Cindy S.
