I like to use either simply soft worsted weight yarn by Karon, or a dk weight yarn, because it is so much lighter on your head. When using a dk yarn you would have to figure out your stitches per inch because you would have to cast on more stitches because the yarn is thinner.

Yeah, gauge swatching is the bane of my crafty existence. I loathe it, but I force myself to give proper attention to gauge ever since the fiasco of knitting the Inga hat <http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-inga-hat>,
(picture below for those who might want it) all the way to the end only to discover it was too small to fit my head. I ended up giving it to a hat and gloves drive at my church, hoping it would fit some preteen or someone with a smaller head than mine who was in need of a warm noggin.
Does anyone else have any particularly good chemo cap suggestions.
