Hey All,
I think we are all forgetting that sighted people are amazing because
what they can see. It's a joke in our house since people always say
how amazing blind people are for what they can do, I tease my husband
and say he is amazing for what he is able to see as a sighted guy.
I forget what it is like to "see". I had 20/20 vision as a child and
lost it at five. I can hold up a jar of spaghetti sauce and my husband
can read it from across the house. I find that amazing. So, with that
in mind, sighted people can see pictures drawn in braille on regular
boring white braille paper. The bumps actually create a texture and
texture is detectable with the eyes.
I have the Drawing with your Perkins book and I love to make pictures
all the time. I often make pictures for my coworkers. Occasionally, I
find the small pictures and put them on a 4 by 6 or 3 by 5 colored
index card and give it to someone to hang in their cubicle, and they
love it.
