Actually, I have done some basket work at Girl Scout Camp. I was the
student and the kids were showing me how to do it.

While I was learning the caning the person in charge had talked to me about
doing baskets and she worked with me on a basket. It was a simple basket,
but different then what I did at camp. I liked the basket making and
would like to go further doing that, but it is tough finding verbal directions,
yet simple when someone shows you one to one.

Joyce,
Sorry, no I do not know any leather workers. I am trying to learn some new
crafts like this and caning and basket making and wanted to know how you
made out. I am in the process of ordering basket making supplies to try my
hand at this craft, as it is very popular in the south. I will let you know
my progress when I start. Hope you finish your chair.

Subject: Re: [Nfb-krafters-korner] question for Joyce,

I went thru the training of caning. I am far from doing it on my own. My
Mom canes and she will help me finish my chair.

I did really enjoy it while I was in the training. It takes a lot of
practice especially if you can't see what you are doing.

As far as the leather goes, the gentleman that did the fraft show last year
and I had hopes that he might teach, I sent him an email recently and he
changed his email. I did notice him on another NFB list and tried
contacting him, but didn't hear back.

Do you know any leather workers?

Hi Joyce,
What happened to your caning class? Did you finish the training and was it
difficult to teach or learn, is it something that we could learn? Just
wanted to know how you made out with it and if you liked it. Also, who was
the person who was going to share leather craft this past year, is that
still being talked about doing. Thanks.
