 So are you saying, the length does not matter.  I could use length 24, like Cathy or 29, if I have 2 sets of 8/29.  How strange!
Let me know.  I did look for length 16 for another reason, in a larger size and could not find any.

That is why you use 2 circular needles when making something in the round that is a small circle.
 
With the mittens that I will be teaching you only have 8  or 10  stitches on for making the thumb.  You use 2 circular needles to do  that.
 
Take the class and learn how.

hmm, I  think that Terry was referring to the length of the needles when she said 29.  that is a fairly common length from what I have discovered during my  initial research of knitting needles. a length of 16 is not as common. what I  happen to have now is a 24 length in my size 8 needles. I have not yet decided  whether to get a 16 this time or another 24 to match. I do believe I will try  a different texture  just to see if I like it better. I have bamboo  needles which I do like.
I'm thinking of trying  acrylic.
