Hi Melissa,

It sounds like you need to learn the slip stitch to connect a chain
or some other row. Or perhaps, to complete a granny square?

A slip stitch is very easy to do. I presume you are somewhat familiar
with crocheting vocabulary so hopefully my explanation will make
sense. This is how I do it with no mention of left or right
handedness:

Let's presume you are connecting the last chain stitch to the first
chain stitch to form a ring.

with one loop on your crochet hook, insert your hook into the first
chain stitch you made essentially forming a ring.

Yarn over.

Draw the yarn through the stitch and the existing loop on your hook.
(Sometimes, I am not successful in doing this part in one smooth
motion and find I draw through the stitch first, and then a second
time through the loop that existed on my hook to begin with.)

You now have one loop on your hook and you just made a slip stitch.

Hurray!

LM
