Hi Lily,

You would want 100% cotton yarn or a cotton blend yarn for a cloth. As for
whether you could make a wash cloth from a granny square. Well, you could,
it is just that a granny square has a waffle-like texture, so your cloth
would have lots of holes in it. so if you didn't mind that, then you could
certainly do that.   Most folks knit their cloths.
