Thanks so much! That rain and umbrella plate will be just the
thing for my 2
3 year old grandsons. No, they are not twins, they are 2 months
apart in
age.

Hello All, We just moved to Florida on Monday and it has been
raining almost everyday, so there has been a lot of talk about
rain. My two year old grandson, Kingston, came home from day
care with a cute umbrella craft so I thought I would share the
idea with you.

Materials; one lightweight paper plate
paints, markers or crayons
pipe cleaners

Directions; Have the child decorate the underside of the plate
with either paint, markers or crayons. This will become the top
of the umbrella. Punch a hole in the center of the plate. poke
a pipe cleaner through the hole and bend it around a few times so
it will not go back through the hole. Attach another pipe
cleaner on the opposite side of the hole and bend it a few times
so it will stay in place. Bend the bottom of the last pipe
cleaner into a j shape to form the handle of the umbrella shaft.
Note, If you have the really long pipe cleaners, you can use only
1 and twist it on either side of the hole in the plate.

This is a simple craft but very appropriate at certain times of
the year. Kingston, who is just learning to talk is now saying,
more rain, more rain.
Carol
