Many thanks for all your thoughts. A Special thanks for those who have
stepped up and making Krafters Korner run along smoothly.
I hit home om Mondayas my kids gathered around me and I was with them and
got thru the planning of the funeral. That will take place on Thursday and
Friday this week.
I am so numb over this all and my heart aches. Basically, he had a blood
clot in his lung [which causethe last week shortness of breath, weakness]
On Friday while in the VA Hospital breathing got worst, his hart rate went
into afebrillation a piece of the clot broke off and stopped his heart. They
asked me to allow them to administer a clot bust ing medication and they
told me they might even have to do surgery to remove the clot. They had
givine him Heprin which was a blood thinner to stop the clot from getting
larger. Phone calls started Friday morning 9 a.m. with the last one
telling me he died around 2 p.m. I never got up there until the early evening.
A friend drove him up to the BA hosp on Thursday morning. I didn't even
know he had gone as I was on and off the phone calling the hospital about how
to get him up there.
Sorry for this if it is more then you wanted to know.
I truly feel the VA hospital didn't do enough and too little to late and
never gave me phone calls, answers or follow ups.
I found out while standing in the room with my husbands body from a doctor
when I asked about the original statement from the doctors 3 weeks earlier
That according to a CT Scan he had colon cancer with a tumor that
perferated the colon wall. The doctors told me Friday night he did not have colon
cancer. Biopsy done proved that. Oddly enough they did 4 CT scans while
he was in the hospital 3 weeks earlier and one scan they told me showed
all that and then the others they could not visualize it. He went for the
colonoscopy and wanted to do another one with a better cleaning out. That
was scheduled for April 4. They had him off his Coommadin medication since
they discharged him. Maybe if they kep him in the hospital and did the
colonoscopy as that was what they told me they wanted to do while he was
there for the week and a half. They released him still in pain, breathing
was irregular, not eating and diarrhea. They failed him.
