[Nfb-krafters-korner] finding good crafting eyes

Ive never seen color so it is a bit of a mystery for me.
I wanted to have a baby boy color for a blanket I was going to knit.
My 14 year old daughter picked out a color only for many people telling me it is not a baby color.
So my husband goes with me and we get a color
My mom visited and saw it on the table and informed me she hoped it was for a girl.
I am working on a hat for a baby boy I hoped, mom says it is a girl color.
Most say a boy or unisex.
It is a blue with some purple.
How confusing!

I am a good reader, so I hope I do not do these things, but sometimes it does help your readers if they know exactly what you are looking for or if in fact you are looking for something New or different for you.

I had low vision for decades, but color perception was excellent, so I was picky about color, and my mother and I don't see colors the same way. Now I can't see much color at all, but Mom is still my main resource. She does one thing that has always annoyed me -- when I ask for a description of something, whether it is a color or a print in a fabric, or a description of a person's face, she will immediately start telling me what she sees in the most subjective, non-specific terms. "Oh, she is classically pretty" or "this print is too loud", with no specific objective details to grasp onto. I stop her and say, Mom, you're doing it again..." It doesn't help.

Well I wanted to pick out flannel for a quilt throw and both of them are trying to describe what the fabric looked like. Lorraine finally said, "Pick out anything, she can't see it/"

I also need to tell you that they threatened to leave me in New Hampshire if I didn't hurry up and pick out what I wanted. I need to say Lorraine and I have been friends since the 7th grade and that is a long friendship to be there for each other.
