Joyce,  I personally prefer to use 2 strands as one, if doing the 1 over 2 I’ll do each peg one at a time rather than wrapping the whole loom. I think pulling one strand from the middle and one from the outside creates more of a mess with the yarns twisting around each other, to me it’s just easier to use 2 balls. With self stripping yarn you really want to try matching your stripes.
