Hi Jeanette and welcome to the list.

I feel your pain here. Often times when I have wanted to learn something, it
seems quite daunting in the fact that there is just so much information
available, or the question of how on earth could I do this as a blind
person.
I am not a knitter myself, but I know of plenty of blind people on this list
who are excellent knitters and would be more than happy to answer your
questions.

I have several suggestions for you in terms of finding
resources/instruction.

1. If you have a membership, bookshare has tons of different knitting books
with different patterns and knitting technique instructions.
2. If you google something like braille knitting books you will get some
results. Also, I believe my blog

www.creativecraftykitchen.wordpress.com

has some book resources and other knitting pattern sites.

3. If you are a member of the NFB, someone in your aphiliet or local chapter
may be able to help you in person with instruction and just general
guidance.

Let me know if you have any questions and best of luck.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] Introducing Myself, and more

Hi. I am Jeanette Kutash, from Quincy, Massachusetts. I joined this
summer; I am still trying to figure out how to get started. I do some
knitting, but am looking for good knitting books in accessible formats that
explain things like fixing mistakes, putting projects together, knitting
stitches, patterns, picking up stitches for sleeves and necks, etc. My
instructor locally has never felt that someone without any vision can do
these things, so I have been paying ridiculous amounts if I ant to finish a
project. I guess I misunderstood. While I look forward to taking classes,
I was hoping that there would be a way to get recording for classes we could
not get into, or classes that were offered that might help us. I will be
checking the website soon for more options.

Jeanette
