E-mail class: ORIGAMI: Pyramid Container
instructor: Lindy
email: stephlin at iafrica.com
start date: September 16, 2014
sign up deadline: 09/09/2014
level: Beginner
requirements: None
description: This class will be taught via an email list. It will teach you
how to fold an open pyramid-shaped container from one square piece of paper.
When folded, this box is open at the top, but it can be closed using tape,
glue, staples, ribbon, stickers, or any embellishment of your choice, making
it perfect for presenting small gifts.
supplies needed:
Sheets of standard rectangular copy or printer paper, 3 or more sheets. You
will receive instructions at the start of the class on how to turn your
rectangular paper into a true square. You may also contact me via e-mail if
you would like to prepare your paper before the class starts.
additional comments: All members are very welcome. Come and join this e-mail
class to try something new and work at your own pace. I have loved this
container ever since I first folded it. Without giving too much away, to me,
this model just has something magical to it. The design is fairly simple,
but the end result is just so elegant, and to me, there was that wow moment
that you get with some origami models. You will learn how to turn ordinary
printer or copy paper into a square and then, to fold a 3-dimensional open
box from this flat piece of paper. The folded container may also be used as
a box to store things, or it will look very pretty if folded from colored or
patterned paper. It may be left open or closed, since its shape and design
is flexible enough to be closed at the top. A small container can be used as
a Christmas tree ornament or tuck a gift inside your pyramid container, etc.
etc. Hope to have you all join to share my passion for origami and paper
crafts in general.
