[Nfb-krafters-korner] Reindeer Pony Bead

I'll answer both of the questions at once. This is only the pattern shared with everyone since the class was open to everyone. If you have not done Pony Bead projects before then the directions might not make since. I shared the project directions, not the detailed directions teaching how it is done. That information was presented in the phone class.

With Pony Bead Projects you use one cord and string beads on the cord. Generally I tell people to always string their beads on to the left end of the cord, then bring the right end of the cord through the same beads. What happens is that your cord ends alternate from left to right after each row. The project is centered on the cord. So in the pattern, string the 5 brown beads on the left end of the cord bringing the beads up to the Center of the cord. Now take the right end of the cord and string that end through the same 5 beads from right to left. (This means that the left cord now is coming off the right side of your project and the right cord is coming off the left side of your project. Each row will alternate and the cords will switch sides. This is generally how a pony bead project is done.

BUT...when you are making something that has ears or a tail etc. you might only use one cord to "add" that detail on your project. That is what is described in the "ears". The left and or right cords are used independently to create the ears. When you continue on to row three, you again start using the left cord and right cord through the project again.

Ear piece is the ears of the Reindeer.

Have a good day. I will be away until Monday.

Enjoy!

Cindy

Have I missed a first post for the reindeer, it sounds so cute. On the one I have received I see it says cut cord three feet long, but then there is mention of the right cord and different rows, how do I get different rows on
one piece of cord? I guess this might be too many questions for this time
of year, it so near Christmas.
Thank you, I'll follow up in the new year. Cheers. Valerie

Cut cord about 3 foot long.

Center your rows on the cord.

Row 1: 5 Brown
Row2: 5 brown
Additional ear piece off left using just the left cord. Add 6 Brown. Form circle by bringing the cord through the first bead of the 6 you just added.
That will form a circle for the ear. Repeat on right side using just the right cord for the right ear.

Row 3: 1brown, 1 black, 1 brown, 1 black, 1 brown. (black beads are the Reindeers eyes) Row 4: 4 brown
Row5: 3 brown
Row 6: 1 red (Rudolph's nose)
Tie off! Both cords are together so you can just tie off and hide ends.

Cut brown pipe cleaner into two equal pieces. Place one of the pieces of brown pipe cleaner through the row one beads. Make the excess pipe cleaner equal on each side. Bend the pipe cleaner at a 90% angle so it looks like antlers. Cut small pieces of pipe leaner to add extra horns on each antler.
You can twist the larger size of pipe cleaner around the original pipe cleaner or twist on small pieces at different areas.

Enjoy!

Cindy
