Hi Maria, I drafted the below post this morning, we must have been on a
similar mind thought, anyway, now I've read your post, I'll send the below
in, just it is just an idea. Valerie

Hi, I was thinking today about the availability of lessons and the recent
discussion of recordings. As an alternative, and this is probably a very
vague, not will thought out idea, but I'll send it along anyway, what if
email classes were available in some sort of format, creating a library of
projects? I know many take advantage of email classes already, but some
classes are close together, so we might choose not take part in an extra
class if that were the case. Also the email classes are clear and concise,
but perhaps added to the actual class instructions, could any extras,
students have brought up during the class be added, no names, just the added
extra info. Having a library of projects could mean thee classes could be
bought by anyone at any time and students take them at their leisure. I am
not highly techie, but think this would add to funds, and over time the
library would grow. Though we have email classes, creating a library of
these projects in formats suitable, makes them very accessible to a lot of
people, not sure if email classes could be recorded, but that might get
around the privacy issue if teachers were agreeable. I'm new, not really
sure about exactly how things run, so none of this might be appropriate or
workable, so forgive my rambling thoughts. Cheers. Valerie

Man, I know I am behind in emails, but had no idea the discussion about dues
ever came from a discussion of resources on our website. From what I saw,
the mention of classes only came from a justification for raising dues. We
all know how much we get out of our classes and they are "worth" far more
than what we actually pay for them.

You can rest assure that there will be no selling of recordings from a
general class. Something special would have to be set up in order to have
recordings that would be worth selling, I know I wouldn't want to pay for a
recording to have to listen to class participants. If there were recordings
that were made in a teacher/student format it would have to be with a
pretend student to make it into a comprehensive recording worth selling.

To my knowledge, no one is making recordings to sell. What teachers do
outside of our division or class setting has nothing to do with us.

I really hope this discussion of recordings is dropped. The members of this
division voted some time ago not to have recordings. Teachers conduct their
classes as they see appropriate. If you take class materials that are not
your intellectual property and make money without legal written permission
of the person that created it, you can be sued for damages by the person
that created the material.

Happily done to 2736 unread messages on this list (don't ask, it was a gmail
filtering snafu).
