I have used felting needles in the past. Going back a few years at NFB
convention I think in Dallas while in the exhibit hall Audrey taught felting
at our table. I think clover had a great felting tool as it had a gard
that came down protecting the needle. This way without sight you could put
this up against your finger and when you pushed down to go through whatyou
were felting the needle would go through the fiber and basically the gard
would retract. It has been a while since I did this, but I believe clover is
who made this.
So using felting needles you do neede to be aware and they are sharp, but
now I guess a visually impaired person should not thread a needle to sew on
a button or go fishing and cut their own meat at dinner time. Heck, maybe
sighted people shouldn't use sharp things either!

* I was doing some research on Amazon.com to purchase some Felting tools
and other supplies. I came across this set of Felting tools and was
surprised by the message printed on the side of the product.

Right on the package it said: Caution: needles are very sharp and should
not be used by children or anyone with a visual handicap. I wasn't sure
whether to laugh or cry.
Would someone have time to visit with Wistyria Editions?
I'm not sure I will be purchasing this set, but I do not think they should
have this "warning" on their package regarding visual handicap.
Thanks,
Cindy
