Loom gauge is measured (or described) by measuring from the center of one peg to the center of the next peg. If you have the basic four ring plastic set, the two largest rings most likely have 40 or 41 pegs, and 35 or 36 pegs. These rings are large gauge, three quarters of an inch gauge. The two smaller rings will usually have 30 or 31 pegs, and 24 pegs, and are five eighths of an inch gauge. Either of the two smaller rings in your set may be used for this project.
