The tapestry needle you get with the looms are plastic.  I find the metal,
size 20, needles are more sturdy, If you want to get a few to have around.

It is sort of like a darning needle.  It is used to sew up yarn projects.
It will be used in the hat classes to assist in removing the hat from the
loom and closing up the crown of the hat.
If you purchase a round loom kit, the loom tool and the tapestry needle is
included.
