Ericka,

As a child I learned to knit English, but at some point in my adulthood I
learned to knit continental and have never turned back.  I've heard of the
Portuguese style of knitting, but I know nothing about it.  

Wow, 15 people in a beginners knitting class is a lot.  I'm glad you are
having a positive experience.  I've now taken 3 yarn craft classes at a
local yarn shop as well as participated in a community project with them,
and It has all been a positive experience.

I've been learning English style knitting and was wondering if anyone uses
the Portuguese method.  Someone suggested it might be easier for me to keep
track of where my working yarn is.  I'm glad I signed up for the local
beginner class.  Everyone is very encouraging and supportive.  We have 15
people of all ages and backgrounds in the class.  Most of us are struggling
so I'm not out of place at all.
