I really like the idea.  It seems like you might want something simple
unless your daughter knows how to knit very well.  My suggestion is to
measure the Bible and then find a nice dishtowel pattern and modify it to
fit the Bible.  I agree with Terry that you might want a flap and might want
to sew the flaps so you can slide the book into the cover.  As I said, I
like the idea and if I had a print Bible, I might try it myself.  Good luck
on it.

I never thought of the idea!  I would measure the bible and maybe add an
inch for movement.  Measure the hight.  Knit a flatt piece, knit a row, purl
a row.  For it to lay flat I would think you would want it flat on the
frunt.  Add 2 inches to each end for a flap to go over the edge of the book.
After making the piece, turn over 2 inches at each end for the covers to
slide in.  You might also want to slip stitch on your turns.

Just an idea off the top of my head!
