[Nfb-krafters-korner] My next project.

Deana,
I have not used the tape but I know Joyce and I think others have, I do have
a link that I would have to find as to where you can purchase it but that is
if you are interested. It goes over or around the edge of your pieces, I
believe it leaves a one quarter inch on each side. You then stitch thru the
tape that keeps you in the quarter inch allowed. I believe it is then able
to be pulled off and your stitches remain. I think that is what I have had
explained to me. I will ask around again to refresh my mind also.

Hi Terry,
Thanks for your kind words. I am not an expert quilter by any means. In
fact, I've never used quilter's tape. What exactly is that? LOL I typically
pin my fabric. When I sew pieces together, I even discovered that I can use
a large paper clip too. I try to keep my stitches at about a 1/4 inch size,
but they probably end up being a little shorter. I just feel along the
fabric edge at the top and try to sew in as straight a line as possible.
The fabric that I mentioned before was from Walmart, but most of the stores
now don't have a fabric section. It was very nice, since you didn't have to
add batting, it was already attached. I'm going to check to see if they have
it at JoAnn Fabrics, or another fabric store nearby. Will keep you all
posted if I find it!

I so admire your skills in quilting. I enjoy hearing about what you have
made and are going to make. I like the crib size quilt only because I would
not want to wait to show off my new gift. I know you are quilting by hand, I
think you told us but want to ask again. What tools, if any are you using to
keep your seams at the quarter inch size? Are you using quilters tape?
Pinning? Getting ready to set up my projects for the fall and this is one I
am looking to schedule, hand quilting. I know Joyce is planning a class on a
table topper in October I think. Should would like some tips and help with
what you do to make it go well. Thanks Terry K

Hi all,
I've been hand quilting for years, and right now I'm just making bow-tie
squares and setting them aside to eventually make a quilt. Well, my
step-sister is pregnant with a boy and I decided I'd like to make her a
quilt for the baby. Only problem is, all the fabric squares I already have
made are either floral patterns or pink, LOL. So, I purchased some more
boyish fabrics. I'm doing a basic 4 inch square pattern with about 8
different print fabrics. I'm trying to decide how big this blanket/quilt
should be. Should I make it to fit a toddler bed? Or smaller? Also, the
last baby quilt I made, for the backing, I used this really nifty fabric
that already came with the quilt filling/stuffing attached. It wasn't too
thick, but it worked perfectly. I am not sure if they still make fabric like
this, and if so, where to purchase it. Do you all know if I can still get
this? Also, please let me know your thoughts on the size. Thanks!
Deanna
