[Nfb-krafters-korner] Bookshare questions

The email address is used as a log in name for bookshare.

Some services have an email address, a user name and a password. 
Facebook is like that. I can log in to facebook with my email, but my 
user name is DebeeArmstrong.

On bookshare, you have a name, usually your full name, but it uses your 
email as a login.

Email, as well, is something you may or may not be able to get on 
multiple computers, depending on how it got set up for you.

If you have an email account with a service like gmail, you can set up 
multiple computers to log in to it through the web or with different 
"clients" -- software that lets you read email. At work we use Exchange, 
and the client to access it is Outlook. So at work, I use Outlook like 
everyone else. But I also previously used Outlook at home for my 
personal email, and I set that up so only my laptop could download mail. 
I couldn't read personal email at work or on the road without my laptop.

Last year I switched things around. At home, I use Thunderbird; at work 
I use Outlook and  while commuting I use my iPHONE. I also have multiple 
accounts; one for home, one for work, set up by my employer, and one on 
gmail. I can access all three accounts with all my devices.

Other people get set up so work email downloads to the work computer, 
and home email downloads to the home computer.  Some people can access 
work email from home but not home email from work. Some people read 
their mail strictly on the web -- most sighted people do these days but 
it's the least accessible solution for us.

It all depends on how it got configured and you can, by bugging your 
local tech get  them to change it for greater convenience to you. 
Straightening out this stuff for students is how I earn my paycheck! 
Anyway, my poor mom, who is fully sighted had all sorts of email access 
issues and she was using comcast, but the main problem was not her, but 
how it got originally set up for her.
