Amazon Prime costs $99 once a year and what you get is:

Free prime music, free Prime movies and series along with television shows
play anytime , You get free 2 day delivery for many things you purchase on
Amazon[not everything, but it takes away the fear and cost of shipping and 2
days to receive it is very nice.  I recently read something about
Audible.com offering their subscriptions to their books thru Prime.  My
first choice is Audible.com as books are released at audible the same day
that books hit the book stores.  So you can listen to them thru the Echo,
IPhone, Victor stream and MP3 players.

Amazon smile is not an account. You use smile.amazon.com to give a portion
of what you buy to your specified charity through Amazon. You connect a
charity to your amazon account.

Actually, Terry, the dot and the echo do the same thing. The echo has a
better speaker but that is it. I got my nephew to read the few instructions
for setting it up. 

1. Find the location you want and plug it in. (Mine is in the corner of my
bedroom closest to the kitchen and I can talk to it from the kitchen.) 2.
This is the tricky part. Do you and Henry share an amazon account? If not,
you need to decide which account you want associated with your echo.
Now, install the Alexa app on your phone and follow the directions. (I am
going to assume that the buttons on the dot are the same as the echo. There
is a button that has a small dot in the center that you can feel. Press and
hold that for about five seconds. Then tell your phone to continue.
3. At this point, it should walk you through setting up your wireless
connection and anything else you need.
