[Nfb-krafters-korner] class list out

I slide my yarn over my thumb. I am right handed, so my left thumb gets all the work. Well if the right thumb is on top, then I don't hold the hook like a knife. I am a fingers on and off with the yarn. So my fingers are working on top of the hook. I tried and tried to learn how to slide off the yarn, but I was so inconsistent with stitch sizes or dropping stitches all together, I just gave up. It is the fine motor stuff I am a bit limited on, thus my fingers get a good work out, smile. Hey but great way to  warm up your hands, or at least mine. Start crocheting and they warm up fairly fast, smile.   

I always wondered why many crochet hooks have the sort of thumb indentation. It is for the knifers, giggle.

I had to grab my current crochet project just to see how I held the hook. For me it is a pencil. I tried the knife hold and it seemed to have a strain on my wrist.
The difference is the pencil hold has the hook end coming out between thumb and forefinger.  The knife hold has the hook extending from under the thumb toward the wrist.  That is, if I understand what the holds really are.
So my question is how do people hold the working yarn?  I couldn’t describe what I do.  It is such a comfortable   habit that controls yarn  tension. Interested in what others do.
