Hi All,

Based on the conversations happening at the moment, I hope I don't
upset anyone by asking what I've been wanting to post for a few weeks
now.

LightHouse for the Blind, where I work, has been doing a Beanies for
Babies craft class for about two years now and I've been wanting to
change it up a bit. Since I supervise this program, and I'm a KK
member, I've been toying with the idea of approaching folks on this
list and asking if anyone would be interested in teaching some time
limited crafts over the phone or via Skype. We're looking to test this
remote craft class some time between April and June. and yes, we'd
like to offer a small stipend to teachers.

Some background information I'd like to share:
* There would be 3-8 students in a room and who would be on a speaker
phone or Skuype call with the teacher

* We have at least one student who is quite hard of hearing and will
likely not participate but sit and do her own thing

* Many of the students involved think they need to see to do a craft.
some have given up crocheting because they can't see. Many of them
knit, almost no one crochets.

* We are on the west coast and classes will likely be on a Tuesday or
Thursday at 10, but we can be flexible.

What I really want is a bunch of teachers who can teach nonvisually
and emphasize that one doesn't need to see to continue crafting. I'm
open to class ideas, length of time, and any other suggestions any one
has. I want some good role models to make crafting as a blind person
more positive because I can't do it all.

Please, if you are interested, contact me via my work email at
lmartinez at lighthouse-sf.org or call my work number at 415-694-7350. Of
course, you can contact me through this email address or via my cell
if you have it, but work would be preferrable.

Lisamaria Martinez
